ABOUT

We make award-winning craft chocolate in small batches. Each bar uses beans from a single origin and expresses the unique flavors of the harvest, influenced by the location and climate where the beans were grown and how they were fermented and dried.

Our chocolate is carefully roasted, refined, and molded by hand in Friendship, Maine. Each bar is then wrapped in traditional Japanese mulberry paper we produce in our studio.

OUR NAME

The scientific genus of the cacao plant is theobroma, which translates from Greek to 'food of the gods'. The Mayan and Aztec origin stories of cacao associate it with the divine. We approach chocolate with this history and potential in mind.
